Mgr George Hamilton Pearce and Maria Valtorta
Born on January 9, 1921, and died on August 30, 2015, he was the metropolitan archbishop of the Fiji Islands.
Appointed in 1967 to lead the newly created Archdiocese of Suva, he was a Council Father. On June 6, 1986, he wrote to the publisher to request the sending of copies of the work recently translated into English. He wanted to distribute them to a few priests he knew. Archbishop Pearce had discovered Maria Valtorta in the French edition. When he wrote, he was retired in the Diocese of Providence in the United States. My first contact with the work of Maria Valtorta was in 1979 [...] I find it (the work) remarkably inspiring. It is impossible for me to imagine that anyone could read this monumental work, with an open mind, and not be convinced that the author can be none other than the Holy Spirit of God.[1]
