This last volume of the Notebooks continues the teachings and visions found in the previous volumes, but it takes on a more prophetic tone notably with the Commentaries on the Apocalypse. As noted, these unfinished commentaries, contained in the last two autograph notebooks (Nos. 121 and 122), were not published separately but have been included, over 70 pages, in this last volume of the Notebooks.

It is also noteworthy the gravity of the message delivered by the Eternal Father (a very rare intervention) to Pope Pius XII, on December 23, 1948, concerning the importance of the contribution of the work of Maria Valtorta in evangelization. This message was most likely delivered to him.

This is a message of the same nature that closes the dictations of the Notebooks and with which many readers of the work identify. Despite the serious tone, it is probable that the author is Maria Valtorta herself, having reached an intimacy of inspiration with the Holy Spirit.

All these messages converge to take up God's work in their diagnosis and proposals.

    Conclusion of the Notebooks

"The world continues its descent toward the abyss, toward non-faith or a faith too weak; charity and hope are weakening in too many people—they are even already dead in many—for this reason, all possible means should be used so that God may be better known, loved, and followed. What a priest, heard or unheard by too many, cannot achieve, the press, the books through which the Word of God must be newly presented to the crowds, can.

Sometimes a single word is enough to lift a fallen spirit, to bring a lost Soul back to the right path, to prevent the definitive suicide of another.

This is why God, who sees and knows all about men, reveals through the means of His infinite love His thoughts and desires to Souls chosen by Him for this Mission; He wants His help not to remain fruitless and suffer to see what is destined to be food for salvation for many not passed on to them.

The need of weak Souls to obtain some spiritual nourishment continues to increase. But the chosen grain, given by God, remains locked up and useless, so that weakness grows, as well as the number of people who perish, less in this life than in the next.

When will a truer, broader, deeper knowledge of Christ allow, once finally lifted the scales from what is the source of life, holiness, and eternal salvation, a multitude of Souls to sing the hymn of joy, blessing, and glory to God who will have helped them to Save themselves and to be part of the people of the saints?[1]"
