Demetes the sailor, the Cretan sailor
A part of the apostolic troupe leads Syntyche and John of Endor toward their exile from Antioch. On the boat a violent storm rises. Demetes the sailor is mortally wounded by the fall of a mast.
"His head is split like a ripe pomegranate", grumbles Peter.[1]
He entrusts him to Syntyche who applies the ointment prepared by Mary and encourages the apostles to pray. The storm calms and Demetes the sailor is healed.[2] Even the broken bone is re-welded.[3]
