Ennius Cassius
Patrician Roman exiled in Caesarea on the Sea.
He buys the very young Aurea Galla, for the equivalent of 13 years of a day laborer's wage to make her an object of pleasure during a orgy. Jesus entrusts Claudia Procula with her release.
The stakes are difficult:
"We will tell her [Claudia]. But she will not be able to do anything… A slave purchased… is an object of which one may dispose…"[1]
She nevertheless manages with authority and skill by promising Ennius, drunk, a return to Rome in exchange for the slave.
