In the Bible as well as in the work of Maria Valtorta, the term "Jerusalem" is used to represent the city of the same name, but also to represent other symbolic realities. Depending on the circumstances and the allegories used, Jerusalem is employed to symbolically represent the people of God, the heavenly Homeland celestial, etc.
