Born on March 11, 1929, and deceased on April 3, 2021. This Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop of Martana (Umbria) presided on October 12, 2011, under the pontificate of Benedict XVI, over the 50th anniversary of the death of Maria Valtorta. The ceremony took place in the chapel of the cloister of the Santissima Annunziata of Florence, a stronghold of the Servites of Mary who, on this occasion, paid heartfelt tribute to the tertiary of their order. Mgr De Nicolò declared, among other things, at the end of his homily:
"The Work of Maria Valtorta — from which dogmatic and moral errors are absent, as many have noted — has for about half a century enjoyed wide and silent diffusion among the faithful (about thirty translations into foreign languages) of all social classes worldwide, and this without particular publicity. The sublimity, the height, and the wisdom of the content have produced many fruits of good and of conversion; even people immersed in the whirlwind of the world and distant from the Christian faith, but also eager to access solid certitudes, have opened themselves to the encounter with the Absolute, with the God of Love, and they have found therein a full confirmation of the two-thousand-year teaching of the Church."
The funeral of Mgr De Nicolò took place in the Saint Peter's Basilica of Rome, under the presidency of the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the right hand of the Sovereign Pontiff since 2013.
