Saint Paul VI
His Holiness Pope Paul VI (1897-1978) - Pontificate from June 21, 1953 to August 6, 1978
On January 17, 1974, the Pope's Secretariat (the highest authority of the Vatican) sent to Fr. Roschini the congratulations of the Holy Father for his work openly favorable to Maria Valtorta:
You have kindly wished to send to the Supreme Pontiff a copy of your latest work: "The Virgin Mary in the writings of Maria Valtorta". Appreciating your piety and zeal and the precious result, the Holy Father warmly thanks you for your new testimony of pious homage and expresses the hope that your efforts will bear abundant spiritual fruits.
Previously, Msgr. Pasquale Macchi, the Pope's private secretary, had confirmed in 1963, during a long interview with Fr. Berti that the work of Maria Valtorta was indeed not on the Index (which was not yet abolished) and had mentioned that the Pope, then Archbishop of Milan, had read one of the four volumes of Maria Valtorta's work and had given the complete work to the major seminary. Interview confirmed under oath by Fr. Berti and statements reported by him.
