Dositeus of Antigonea
He is the third son of Ptolemy, the steward of Lazarus in Antioch. He married Hermione, daughter of a proselyte and a Greek. This "mixed Covenant" does not make Ptolemy happy:
"My son met her in Alexandroscene of Phoenicia when he was there for business and he liked her... and Lazarus did not oppose it, but on the contrary, he said: 'This is better than debauchery.' And it is not a bad thing. But I wanted a bloodline of Israel..." ( EMV 323)
His name[edit | edit source]
From the Greek Dosis: Gift and Theos: God - meaning the "gift of God," thus the equivalent in Greek etymology of the Latin Goddonné.
Where is he mentioned in the work?[edit | edit source]
