Neighbor

From Wiki Maria Valtorta

In a parable of Jesus, the good Samaritan is given as an example because he helps his Neighbor: the man who was attacked and wounded, with great generosity, unlike other people who passed by averting their gaze[1] - James Tissot, Brooklyn Museum.
The Neighbor is the one who is other than myself and whom I draw near to. He is different from me, may have a different culture, another Religion but I recognize him as a child of God, vested with the same dignity. For the Christian, the love of God and the love of the Neighbor are inseparable[2] and are expressed in concrete acts of everyday life.[3] (from Latin proximus, near).

In "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me"

  • He who lacks Goodwill towards his Neighbor cannot call himself a child of God and cannot have God with him.[4]
  • There are many, too many words spoken to you. I only tell you these: "Love God. Love your Neighbor".[5]
  • The Neighbor is also the one who seeks God.[6]
  • "Love your Neighbor as yourself." But, under this name, who is it about?[7]
  • During the Banquet of the 3rd Passover, Jesus gives the status of his Kingdom: … - to love one another – to recognize Jesus in all sufferings – …[8]
  • If God on Sinai gave the commandment to love the very Holy God and the Neighbor in one single precept, it is clear that there are not two precepts that can be practiced independently of each other, but that they are one single precept.[9]
