Abraham of Jerusalem
Uncle of Samuel, Annaleah's fiancé, who takes refuge at his house after breaking up with his fiancée. He helplessly witnesses a brawl between Samuel and a relative of Annaleah who came to scold him, whom he knocks out with an axe after drinking too much.
He is the one who comes to warn Jesus and ask for his help, to avoid a double tragedy: the death of Annaleah's relative and that of Samuel, following his condemnation for murder by the Law.[1]"I am old, and my sister [Samuel's mother] is old, the servant and the maid are old. What could the four of us do, and the two girls, Samuel's sisters?" (...) "Tomorrow... perhaps before, the parents will come looking for the man. And at our place, because they certainly know he came and they will find him dead... And Samuel, according to the Law, will be killed... Lord! Lord! The dishonor is already upon us... But that, no! Mercy for my sister, Lord! He cursed you... But his mother loves you..."[1]
Jesus will heal the dying man, then will convince him to forgive Samuel and not to denounce him.[2]
His name
Abram means in Hebrew "he is noble through his father." Reference to the father of the believers. The suffix "raham" given to Abraham by God does not change the meaning of the name.
