    Eucharistiae Sacramentum - Pietro Longhi

According to Catholic faith, the Eucharist is the true body and the true blood of Jesus Christ present under the appearances of bread and wine by transubstantiation. The faithful who receive it obtain supernatural graces which, when united to a firm and active will of the Soul, help it to sanctify itself, to resemble more and more the one it receives in the sacrament, Jesus-Christ.

    • The qualities of adorers of the Body of Christ (in the crib) present in The Shepherds of the Nativity: faith – generosity – humility – desire – promptness to obediencelove.[1]
    • I cultivate you, and finally I will give you such a sap that a more powerful one cannot exist.[2]
    • Institution of the seven Sacraments: BaptismReconciliation – Sacrament of the sickOrdinationMarriageConfirmation – Eucharist.[3]
    • I can give myself, I can transubstantiate out of love for men, so that the bread becomes Flesh and the Flesh becomes Bread, for the spiritual hunger of men.[4]
    • "Take and eat. This is my Body. Do this in memory of Me who am going away." - "Take and drink. This is my Blood. This is the chalice of the new covenant in Blood and by my Blood which will be shed for you for the remission of your sins and to give you Life. Do this in memory of Me."[5]
    • When you consecrate for yourselves the Bread and the Wine and make them my Body and my Blood, you will do a great thing, supernaturally great and sublime. To do this worthily you must be pure since you will touch the One who is Pure and you will feed on the Flesh of a God.[6]
    • Jesus orders Peter and James to take bread, break it into pieces and fill a chalice with wine, the largest there is on the tables. They obey and hold before Him the bread and wine, and Jesus extends His hands upon them praying with no other action than the rapture of his gaze...[7]
    • (Mary) I believe, as no one will believe with such power, that the Bread and Wine is He, in His Flesh and in His Blood.[8]
    • Institution of Sunday Worship: (Peter) decided to start regular Agape meals and to celebrate the regular mysteries the day after each Sabbath. For he says that now is the Lord's day since it is the day on which He has risen and appeared to many, to confirm them in faith in His eternal Nature as God. The Sabbath as it was for the Hebrews no longer exists.[9]
