Sarah of Bethany

Widow destitute, healed by Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount.[1] She is entrusted with Ishmael the elder and Simon the Zealot (Apostle) recommends her to Lazarus for work. She spins linen in Bethany[2] and becomes more particularly attached to the service of Mary of Magdala (Magdalene) after the latter's conversion.[3] She follows Jesus on the apostolic journey of the second year of Public Life.[4]

It is quite natural that she will follow Mary of Magdala (Magdalene) during her exile in Gaul (Provence) at the beginning of the persecutions. She is venerated at the Saintes Maries de la Mer, as Sara la Noire, patroness of the Gypsies.
