To ask
See also: prayer, Rosary, The "Hail Mary" (Ave Maria), To Pray, Prayer, Supplication.
The request made to God is a form of prayer just as are ADoration, praise, confession of our faults.
In "The Gospel as it was revealed to me"[edit | edit source]
- Ask and you shall receive.[1]
- Jesus: I also declare to you that if two of you on the earth agree to ask for anything in prayer, my Father who is in the heavens will give it to them.[2]
- For those who have faith in Him, God always exceeds the requests of his children.[3]
In fundamental Christian texts[edit | edit source]
In the Bible[edit | edit source]
- One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek.[4]
- Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.[5]
- First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving be made for all people.[6]
- You do not have because you do not ask God. And if you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives: you want to waste it all on your pleasures.[7]
- We receive from God whatever we ask because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.[8]
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church[edit | edit source]
- What is prayer.[9]
- Prayer in the Old Testament.[10]
- Prayer in the fullness of time (New Testament).[11]
