Dwelling, House
The house of God can refer either to his kingdom, or to the Temple of Jerusalem or any other religious building, or to the heart of man in which God wishes to rest.
In "The Gospel as It Was Revealed to Me"
- Lord, where do you dwell?[1]
- God, the King of kings, has chosen a single one, his Son, to build in hearts his house. And he has already prepared the materials. All this is kept in reserve in his Word and He uses these materials to build in you the dwelling of God.[2]
- Do not seek God among the proud! He is not there. Do not seek him among hard hearts. He is not there. Do not seek him among those who are hardened. He is not there. He is with the simple, with the pure, with the merciful, with those who are poor in spirit, with the gentle, with those who weep without cursing, with those who seek justice, with the persecuted, with the peaceful. It is there that God is.[3]
In foundational Christian texts
In the Bible
- If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfectly manifested in us... If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he abides united to God.[4]
