Widow of Cornelius
A young widow from the Plain of Saron, mother of a large Family whose eldest is Levi. Driven away by her brothers for having married Cornelius, a veteran Roman who became a blacksmith. She lives by odd jobs:
"servant, when they want me, gleaner, cloth confessor, hemp grinder…"She falls into poverty:
What misery! The youngest is completely naked, wrapped in his mother's torn veil.[1]She takes part in the charity banquet given by Jesus in the palace of Chuza, during the 3rd Passover. At her request, she is employed by Joanna in the rose gardens of Bether.
"You understand, Woman? My children and I. I am going to work. But what is a protected and safe job? It is joy! And my Levi will not tire himself out with agricultural work, because the disciple who takes us puts him in the rose gardens..."[2]Some time later the transformation is visible: they no longer seem the same. Refreshed, serene, they joyfully accomplish their work each according to their abilities...[3]
Where is she mentioned in the work?
