Disciples

Disciples are those who follow Jesus, not only by living his Doctrine, but also on the paths of evangelization.

In the Catholic Church Catechism
- Very early on, the term catechesis was used for all the efforts undertaken in the Church to make Disciples.[16]
- Jesus announces the sending of the Holy Spirit. He will now be with the Disciples and in them.[17]
- The Christ is at the heart of this gathering of men in the "Family of God". He calls them around him by his word, by his signs, by the sending of his Disciples.[18]
- The Cross is the only sacrifice of Christ. He calls his Disciples to "take up their cross and follow him".[19]
- The Church is, by its very nature, a Missionary sent by Christ to all nations to make them Disciples.[20]
- The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. He therefore commanded his Disciples to proclaim the Gospel and to baptize all nations.[21]
- Christ invites his Disciples to follow him by taking up their cross in turn. By following him, He makes them participants in his ministry of compassion and healing.[22]
- Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist are the Sacraments of Christian initiation. They establish the common vocation of all the Disciples of Christ, a vocation to holiness and to the Mission of evangelizing the world.[23]

- Jesus calls his Disciples to be concerned with cooperating with the Divine Plan in prayer.[33]
- The Our Father participates in the unity of all the Disciples of Christ.[34]
- Christian prayer goes as far as the forgiveness of Enemies. It transforms the disciple by configuring him to his Master.[35]
