Dorcas, widow of Toby
Resident in Caesarea Philippi, in the domain of the Tetrarch, this young woman became a widow at 17 years old of Tobiah, whom she loved very much. The tears and emotions of her widowhood likely affected her Maternity: she gave birth to a stillborn baby whom Jesus resurrected.[1] He gave the symbolic double name of Jesai Tobias.
Dorca came, accompanied by the steward of the Tetrarch Philip and her mother-in-law, to the following Passover, (the 3rd) to consecrate her young child to Jesus. She believes she is doing well by proclaiming the miracle of Jesus in the middle of the Temple, but it is the occasion for a new attack by the Pharisees led by Jonathas of Uriel.[2]
