Esther of Nazareth
A little old Galilean woman from Nazareth. She died of grief because of her son Samuel, a liar and murderer. Samuel would later say, tormented by the most terrible remorse:
«[...] I caused my mother to die of grief… also the last evening… she was exhausted… and I was merciless… I hit her, Lord!!!» A cry of real despair fills the room. «I struck her!… She died during the night!… And she had only told me to be good… My mother!… I killed her…»[1]
Several days earlier, Mary, who kept vigil all night at the dying woman and found a lying Judas in the morning, said:
"Poor Esther died, killed by grief because of the behaviour of her son. [...] Do you, an apostle of the Lord, wish to imitate him?"[2]
Her name
Esther (Estér) is a name coming from the Persian "stareh," which means "star," taken as a symbol of charm. - Historical reference: Queen Esther chosen by the king of Persia who had to intervene to save her people from destruction.
