To Judge, Judges, Judgment
In the Gospel and in the work of Maria Valtorta, the Christ asks everyone not to judge their neighbor, as judgment is reserved for God, who alone sees the heart.
In "The Gospel as it was revealed to me"
- But if you have never sinned, how can you judge the Sinner![1]
- Do not judge. Oh! do not judge![2]
- The one who believes in the Only Son is not judged. He is already saved, for this Son speaks to the Father and says: "This one loves me." But the one who does not believe, it is useless for him to do holy works. He is already judged because he did not believe in the name of the Only Son of God[3].[4]
- It is to Me that the Eternal has given all judgment.[5]
- Too, too many are those who are led into complete ruin by the severity of a judgment, moreover unjust.[6]
- Leave everything to God, even the judgment of people. As long as you can be like a child whom the good God guides, why want to burden yourself with the weight of deciding and judging?[7]
- You cannot judge me. You are the ones who are judged and not those who judge, and the One who judges you is God.[8]
- Wisdom, being a form of holiness, always gives the light of judgment, whether for past or present events, or for the announcement of future events.[9]
- You know what Deuteronomy says, speaking of judges and magistrates.[10]
- I came into the world to bring the light and the knowledge of God and to test men and judge them. This time that is mine is a time of choice, election, and selection.[11]
- And you too, judges of the earth, be holy. (...) Ask yourselves if, betrayed, abandoned, prodded, you would have been better than the one who before you awaits his sentence. By making a severe examination of conscience, ask yourself if any woman can accuse you of being the real murderers of the child she has suppressed, because after moments of joy, you shirked your duty of honor. And if you can do this, then you can be severe.[12]
In other works of Maria Valtorta
The Notebooks of 1943
- Catechesis of May 13[13]: Judge not. You cannot know anything. There are things that I permit. There are others that I provoke. None are without purpose. And none are rightly understood by you humans. I alone am Judge and Savior […] I understood in this Light that one must love everyone, judge no one, forgive everything, live only by God.
In fundamental Christian texts
In the Bible
- "You shall appoint judges and officers for your tribes in all your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people with just judgment."[14]
